The Rock Pit Reviews Smokin' Drinkin' Fightin'You want something a little bit different? A change from the same old genre-defined Rock N Roll? Yes? Well these guys just might be the thing for you. Here's a CD that seemingly strides the genres and defies easy description, whilst at the same time not coming across as a band on a desperate search for an identity. What ties it all together for me is Ron Travis' distinctive voice.

www.rslblog.comWhat in the hell has happened to the modern day Rock Band? Have they all gone soft? (Drinking Starbuck’s lattes while hanging out at the local Urban Outfitters?) Where is the beer guzzling? The girl-chasing bands, the guitar-smashing dudes, the bar-fighting nights...

www.welovemetal.comPistol Shot Gypsy is a band based out of Providence, Rhode Island. In their bio information on www.pistolshotgypsy.com you will find they claim the following: we use the oldschool of the 70′s, the party of the 80′s, and the feelings of the 90′s...

Metal ExcessPistol Shot Gypsy is a band based out of Rhode Island with a style of rock that is an amalgamation of blues rock, ’70s rock, ’80s rock, southern rock, metal and alternative rock. Based of the name and the album, I totally expected a southern rock/bar band sound but was surprised to hear the modern alternative influences as well. Despite the mix of styles PSG manages to break it all down into a no-frills rock ‘n’ roll sound...

I sat down with their debut album, Smokin' Drinkin' Fightin' and thought, "did they hang out with me over the weekend?" I can't remember who I hung out with over the weekend, but I wasn't in the dangerous town of Providence, Rhode Island, where Pistol Shot Gypsy hails...

Clanbase Radio Reviews Pistol Shot Gypsy and the Boys Top the Charts...Providence, Rhode Island (The US) and they’ve been winning awards back home :) They deserve it too. ...The variety of influences that one can hear in their music is truely big. Grunge, glam rock, typical 80’s too. They definitely follow the footsteps of the mentioned bands. But what I hear the most in that music is the energy, power and dynamics that is so typical for bands like Monster Magnet or The Hellacopters.

Hell oh High Heels

...I like Pistol Shot Gypsy...a lot. The quintet hail from Rhode Island and are all about good, ol' fashioned, fun rock and roll. You can hear a lot of influences, but they seem to settle in with a good mix of the 80's and 90's without sounding redundant or generic....

808 Stilez Productions review of Pistol Shot Gypsy...You all are not gonna believe this, but it's a USA(RI) based rock band that REALLY rocks. The real kicker is I just found out about them within past two days... I cranked it. Man was I glad I did!!!...

Good old fashioned gritty, working class rock and roll is what you are missing out on. We have said it before and we will say it again, PSG is one of the best straight up rock bands you are going to find anywhere. These guys throw it all out there every time they play. A good time and a great band to open up this show.

As soon as the opening track, “TrainWreck”, started pounding through my speakers, I could immediately feel my bad mood melting away. You see, PSG play good ol’ rock ‘n’ roll. There’s a bit of a 70s influence, a bit of an 80s influence and a bit of a modern influence... Or listen to on a road trip. Hell, they make me want to learn to drive just so that I can listen to this album in the car.

Rhode Island, USA 5-piece Pistol Shot Gypsy pretty much hit the nail on the head with their debut release Smokin’ Drinkin’ Fightin’. It’s modern Rock’n'Roll but with it’s cap firmly doffed to the past while adding in some of their own elements and influences to freshen things up a bit, there’s even a whiff of Sabbath about Just My Luck....
